An interesting model of our solar system’s path as it travels through space in the Milky Way.
Certainly a departure from usual models that show the Sun as a static object, which it certainly isn’t
I have been waiting for this picture to come back around for so long to show it to someone.
This is the coolest fucking thing.

I recently heard MRAs complaining about this. Women get free drinks thanks to rape culture, but “oh the poor oppressed MENS FEELS!”
This bothers me. This actually bothers me. I 105% completely disagree with this entire sentiment and here’s why: It’s fucking ridiculous. And before the whole backlash, that doesn’t mean I support rape culture in any way/shape/form whatsoever. I think this is ridiculous based on the fact that there is no plausible reasoning or idea behind this accusation on what is a very old tradition in Bars, pubs, taverns, etc.
What a ‘Ladies Night’ is, is simply smart marketing. The point of any bar, anywhere, is to supply a social gathering place and alcohol. Music, games, these all came with the territory, but I think if anything has been proven about humanity in general, it’s this: where there is booze, people will gather. But, with an ever-expanding population, causing more enterprise and therefore more competition, what can you do to prove that YOUR bar is worth the trip? YOUR bar is better than Shit Stanley’s across the way? Well, hey, the fastest way to get people through your door is to say, “Come on in, it’s free!”
Now, this leads to a problem. Can’t give absolutely everything away free fro a night. Alcohol is pricy, and people who drink a lot, well, they tend to drink more when it’s free. So, how do we fix this, people? Wait a minute! A bar, any bar, well, that’s one of the most popular places to meet people, new and old, and experience a slice of the local culture. It’s a place to be! And what do men like to do? Well, men like to meet women. We do! That doesn’t make them immediately a rapist. Going to bars or any social gathering place to meet new women? That’s a song & dance as old as time.
SO, if men will go out anyway to meet new women, we need a better way to get ladies to come out. Get them to mingle, and keep coming back. Let’s give THEM the free drinks! That way they get to drink what they want, and the men will come just to meet the women. And heck, they’ll even pay full price! Not to mention, I think no matter what gender you are, if any place gives me something for free, I’m 1000x more likely to go back to that place than anywhere else.
I don’t support rape culture, and the people that take advantage of women who are unwilling and/or unable to defend themselves are disgusting. But a bar, or rather, the OWNER of the bar, deciding to give HIS product out for free to try and ramp up business is not a support of rape culture. And if it’s women getting super-intoxicated on free drinks, well, I believe that choice lies with the individual to stay responsible and not drink until blackout in public. Any idiot in our generation has seen 100,000 PSA’s claiming the dangers of said activity. For BOTH genders. That doesn’t mean rape victims aren’t victims, or that they haven’t been traumatized. It means that just because YOU are being given FREE drinks out of kindness, that doesn’t imply that the BAR is announcing a message of ‘HERE THERE ARE DRUNK GIRLS, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM”
That’ s just absurd. Grow up and think things through before you claim victimization over being handed a free drink.
